You understand the light
the unflinching pragmatism
moving only with purpose
loving only for gain
for life is a game of inches
and he who fights, lives.
You understand the darkness
the warm idealism
gently creating oneself
gracefully letting go
for we stay alive for romance
and he who is aware, lives
“Cut Food” is the brainchild of photographer Beth Galton and food stylist Charlotte Omnès. All liquids are suspended with gelatin, making the most mundane snacks into works of art.

Perhaps we are drawn to each other’s bodies
the way moths are drawn towards burning bulbs
risking burning in our own flames
for everything and for nothing
yet how can we rise anew
if we have not first become ashes?

An old Cherokee chief took his grandchildren into the forest and sat them down and said to them, “A fight is going on inside me. This is a terrible fight and it is a fight between two wolves. One wolf is the wolf of fear, anger, arrogance, and greed. The other wolf is the wolf of courage, kindness, humility, and love.” The children were very quiet and listening to their grandfather with both their ears as he then said to them, “This same fight between the two wolves that is going on inside of me is also going on inside of you, and inside of every person.”
They thought about it for a minute, and then one child asked the chief, “Grandfather, which wolf will win the fight?”
He said quietly, “The one you feed.”

“People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway.
If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway. For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.”
